The pain and drugs had driven him mad - One night one of the nurses went...。故事发生在二十世纪八十年代的中国，任喜爱（朱锐饰）是一位性格温婉善良可爱的姑娘，在嫁给了爱人之后，她跟随着丈夫来到了丈夫的老家五谷婆村，成为了上门媳妇。然而，让任喜爱没有想到的是，新婚的快乐没有持续多久，她的丈夫便在一场意外中不幸去世，任喜爱成为了寡妇。 任喜爱的父母希望女儿能够回到他们的身边，但是任喜爱拒绝了父母，她决定留在婆家，照顾无依无靠的婆婆。就这样，任喜爱成为了家中的顶梁柱，本来就困难的生活在接二连三发生的意外中更加的飘摇不定，然而，面对苦难，任喜爱并没有退缩，而是迎难而上，最终为自己和婆婆挣得了幸福的生活。。
