公元1000年前后，部落首领巴德对于来历不详的独眼龙武士哈罗德百般刁难，非但不认为他是同族予以保护，反倒觉得他是受仇恨诅咒的危险生物，并一气之下宣判了他的囚刑。哈罗德被绑缚在旷野里受尽折磨。幸好，他遇到了10岁的机灵男孩阿尔。有阿尔营救，哈罗德方才脱离牢狱。两人结成生死同盟，踏上面向黑暗之心的逃亡之路。途中，他们登上了一艘努力寻找乐土的海盗船，但是大雾迷江。小船在海上漂浮了40天后，才达到了一片未知的土地。然而，在哈罗德等人登陆时，却中了土著人的埋伏，海盗们受到了可怕的诅咒，死伤惨重。小阿尔也不幸被俘。哈罗德在营救恩人的同时，逐渐拨开了自己的身世谜团……。该片根据2005年山口雄大与山本淳一执导的科幻恐怖片《人肉机器》改编，讲述人类与神秘生命体寄生的怪物战斗的故事。 催债人野田勇次是个连定额任务都无法完成、就算被上司欺负也不敢吱声的中年男人。而且他被医生告知患了癌症。就在他生无可恋之时，一个神秘的生物寄“unit”寄生在了他身上。被“unit”寄生的人，最终都会丧失人格，变成人肉机器。但是，不知为何，勇次没有完全被机器化，为了保护心灵深处存有的自我意识，他一次次与人肉机器人们展开战斗。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
