Va...。导演两年前用纪录片《再见，白楼》（《金边白楼的前世今生》）向自己的童年故居致敬。今次有贾樟柯的公司参与制作，他则以剧情片来细说这栋大楼的居民在逼迁前的故事。主角和两位好友每天都在白楼内练舞，希望终有一天可以上电视台参加比赛。眼见白楼面临清拆，他的父亲想尽办法组织居民，向政府争取更合理的赔偿方案。此时死党亦将离开柬埔寨，他发现从前安稳的家园未必能跟上时代的变化。。1983年，对越自卫还击战轮战时期，我军派出一组六人侦查小队，进行侦查任务，任务是获得敌方布防地图，而在进行侦查任务中，小队遭受了越南士兵的猛烈攻击，在最后整个小队面对生与死的抉择，而决定保护姜洋护送地图回国完成任务自己牺牲，新兵姜洋也在这次的历练中得到了成长……。
